We are pleased to be partnered with a Financial Services Consultancy business based nearby Newington who are now seeking a Finance Manager to join to cover maternity leave for a long-standing member of staff. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who can really add value, implement processes and be the right-hand person to the Finance Director during a very busy period. You will have overall responsibility for an office/accounts assistant.

The candidate’s responsibilities are:

  • Production of monthly management accounts for presentation to the senior management team and consolidation of the Group management accounts ( which includes limited activities of the Holding Company ).
  • Preparing periodic financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, balance sheet management, budgets, cash flows, variance analysis and commentaries
  • Taking full responsibility for transactional accounts (accruals and prepayments, and accrued/deferred revenue ). Ensuring integrity of data is correct and any anomalies are investigated through reporting
  • Reconciliation of all entries on the Balance Sheet, accurate reporting of all actual balances
  • Producing variance analysis against expected results/budget activity. Working closely with business heads to forecast and account correctly on this
  • Analysing all costs applied to individual cost centres, working to reduce unnecessary costs and overspend
  • Ongoing development of management information to assist Management’s understanding of the results and highlighting key items/issues
  • Working closely with the FD to prepare budgets and re-forecasts where appropriate
  • Control of fixed asset register, ensuring all assets are correctly appraised and accounted for
  • Implementing accurate overhead rates and project costing/profitability
  • Identify and implement process improvements
  • Responsibility for managing and controlling the finance functions, driving a team of 2 ( including appointee ) and ensuring that all deadlines are continuously adhered to in an efficient and robust manor
  • Managing the office/finance assistant and providing the support where necessary
  • Managing the audit process with external auditors (Note; this will be a focus to complete before maternity leave commences with detailed support from FD)
  • In charge with timely delivery of year end requirements (tax packs, statutory accounts, etc.) (Note: as above)
  • Management of consultants timesheets and staff utilization reporting
  • Foreign exchange bank revaluation and cash flow forecasting and producing consolidated cash flow when required
  • Raising sales invoices based on project agreements, and subsequent credit control.
  • In-house running of the monthly payroll and management of payroll annual reports
  • Liasing with the HR manager for any payroll changes and new starters or leavers
  • Adhoc legal submission including, Quarterly VAT returns, NIC Class 1A for (P11D’S) and PSA
  • Reconciling the monthly staff benefit invoices with leavers and joiners (Health , pension etc.)

Experience Required

  • Previous experience at FC or FM level.
  • Experienced within a fee-earning business (not a requirement, would be beneficial)
  • Desirable experience in using SAGE , but system implementation experience of something more technical would be very desirable
  • Ideally CIMA Qualified
